Hi, I’m Paul, a Software Developer at the Media and Design Studio. I work on projects that support faculty teaching and enhance student learning. Building on the studio’s roots as a language lab, my work ranges from modern language-learning applications to AI-powered conversational tools.
I started my Computer Science journey in Germany, a path that eventually led me across Switzerland and Texas before landing in Chicago. From the start, I was fascinated by how programming languages are essentially layers of abstraction, which somehow turn electricity into experiences. Therefore, my passion lies at the intersection of technology and design. As a frontend-focused developer, I pay special attention to crafting thoughtful, interactive experiences where structure, shapes, and sound come together. I enjoy building interfaces that feel intuitive and expressive but also meet current accessibility standards. To me, a well-designed interface feels less like software and more like a conversation.
More recently, I’ve become deeply interested in how AI can be integrated into existing user experiences — not as a novelty, but as a meaningful extension of the existing design. In exploring this space, TypeScript remains my primary language of choice, though I approach technology pragmatically, selecting tools based on the needs of the project and the problems I’m solving.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions or ideas for a digital project. I am happy to help!
